Karaoke Lives is ‘American Idol’ meets karaoke dive bar, but with more interesting backstories. The show was inspired by a series of nearly anthropological visits to one of LA’s more legendary karaoke dive bars, the Brass Monkey in Koreatown, which the LA Times has described as “…a veritable love shack for all closet pop superstars.”
